Faith • Civilization • Theology is committed to publishing thoughtful, responsible, clearly presented, and academically credible work in Christian theology, biblical studies, church history, early Christianity, and related interdisciplinary fields.
All submissions are assessed for relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, clarity of argument, originality, responsible use of sources, methodological appropriateness, and overall scholarly or theological contribution.
The journal operates an editorial review process led by the Editor-in-Chief. Submissions may be accepted, declined, returned to the author for revision, or referred for external review where additional subject expertise is appropriate.
Where external review is used, manuscripts may be assessed by one or more reviewers with relevant knowledge of the subject area. Reviewers may provide recommendations concerning acceptance, revision, or rejection. Final publication decisions remain the responsibility of the Editor-in-Chief.
Publication does not imply that every opinion, interpretation, or conclusion expressed by an author is endorsed by Faith • Civilization • Theology. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy of their claims, quotations, references, translations, data, and interpretations.
The journal may make reasonable editorial changes for grammar, clarity, formatting, structure, style, citation consistency, and presentation. Substantive changes that materially affect an author’s argument or meaning will not be made without the author’s knowledge or approval.
The journal does not guarantee publication or a specific decision timeframe. Editorial decisions are based on the quality and suitability of each submission. Authors may submit a substantially revised manuscript for future consideration where appropriate.
Editorial Review
All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment by the Editor-in-Chief.
This assessment considers:
- relevance to the journal’s aims and scope;
- originality and contribution;
- clarity and coherence of argument;
- academic or theological quality;
- responsible and accurate use of sources;
- appropriate citation and attribution;
- methodological soundness where applicable; and
- overall suitability for publication.
Manuscripts may also be referred to an external reviewer where specialist assessment would strengthen the editorial decision.
The use and form of external review may vary according to the type and nature of the submission. Where a manuscript has undergone peer review, this may be identified in the publication record or article metadata where appropriate.
Final publication decisions remain with the Editor-in-Chief.
Repository Self-Archiving Policy
Faith • Civilization • Theology supports responsible scholarly sharing and long-term digital preservation. Authors are encouraged to archive, share, and deposit their work across personal, institutional, and subject-specific repositories in accordance with the following terms:
- Submitted Version (Preprint): Authors retain the right to upload the version of the manuscript originally submitted to the journal on personal websites, institutional repositories, or academic networks such as ResearchGate and Academia.edu at any time.
- Accepted Version (Postprint): Authors may archive the post-peer-review, accepted manuscript before final typesetting, provided that the repository record clearly identifies Faith • Civilization • Theology as the journal of publication.
- Published Version (Version of Record): Authors are permitted and encouraged to distribute the final published publisher-version PDF for non-commercial scholarly use. The shared file must include a full bibliographic citation and, where available, the DOI or a direct link to the original article on the journal’s official website.
- Third-Party Materials: Authors remain solely responsible for securing necessary permissions and complying with copyright restrictions regarding any third-party images, charts, tables, or extended textual quotations reproduced within their manuscripts.
Publication Frequency
Faith • Civilization • Theology is currently published in Two issues annually from Volume 2 (2027) under a continuing volume-and-issue structure.
Each volume corresponds to a calendar year. Beginning with Volume 2 (2027), Issue 1 covers January–June and Issue 2 covers July–December. Articles are assigned to the open issue for the relevant six-month period.
The journal uses continuous online publication within each open issue. An article may be published as soon as peer review, revision and production are complete; the issue is finalised at the end of its six-month period.

Decisions, revisions and resubmission
Editorial decisions may be: decline before review, decline after review, revise and resubmit, accept subject to minor changes, or accept. Reviewer recommendations inform the decision, but the Editor remains responsible for the final outcome.
Revised manuscripts
- The author prepares a clean revised manuscript and a point-by-point response explaining how every comment was addressed or, where appropriate, respectfully declined.
- The revision is uploaded through Know Article Status / Revised Manuscript Upload using the same article number. Authors must not create a new submission for a requested revision.
- The Editor may return the revision to the original reviewer, seek another reviewer, or make a decision directly when the requested changes are limited and verifiable.
- A revision request is not a promise of acceptance. Further revision may be required.
Confidentiality and records
Unpublished manuscripts, reviewer reports and editorial correspondence are confidential and may be used only for assessment and journal administration. The journal retains an editorial record sufficient to document decisions, revisions and the publication history.
Appeals
An author may appeal a decision by emailing editor@faithcivilizationtheology.com within 30 days, identifying the article number and a specific procedural or scholarly ground. Disagreement with a decision alone is not sufficient. Appeals are considered once and, where practicable, by a person not responsible for the original disputed judgment.

Peer-review model
Faith • Civilization • Theology uses double-anonymous peer review. The journal does not disclose reviewer identities to authors, and identifying author information is withheld from reviewers during external assessment wherever practicable.
Research articles are normally assessed by two suitable reviewers selected for subject knowledge, independence and availability. The Editor may seek an additional opinion when reports materially disagree or specialised expertise is required. Editorials, corrections, invited material and other non-research content will be clearly identified and may follow editorial review rather than external peer review.
Authors must submit an anonymised review manuscript and a separate file containing author names, affiliations, email addresses and ORCID identifiers. Reviewers must not attempt to identify authors and must declare any suspected conflict before continuing.
Review times vary according to the manuscript and reviewer availability. The journal does not guarantee a fixed decision date, but will communicate material delays. Revised manuscripts retain the original article number and may be returned to the same reviewers.
